A letter to Association Chairman, Harry Mills, says: “The Queen has asked me to send her best wishes to you and all those participating in the celebration for a most memorable and enjoyable day.”
Upon receiving the letter, a follow up letter from Mr Mills said: “The Veterans, all of whom take their oath of allegiance very seriously, were naturally overjoyed and Heywood Together were also delighted at the LVA presentation of a framed copy of the letter. This was yet another example of local people raising the profile of Heywood.”
