Shop workers at Heady Hill Stores threatened with a gun

Two men wearing balaclavas burst into the Heady Hill Stores on Heady Hill Road, Heywood at about 8.30pm on Tuesday (6 October).

One man waited at the shop door whilst the other, who was carrying a black handgun, threatened the shop workers and demanded money from the till.

After a short struggle between the man and the shop workers the offenders fled with cash and cigarettes.

The man carrying the gun is described as white, 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall, of medium build, in his early 20s and was wearing a black jacket with the hood up.

The second man is described as white, 6ft tall, of slim build, in his early 20s and he was wearing a black top.

Police Constable Steve Farnell of Rochdale division said: “The shop workers, whilst not injured, were left shaken by the incident.

“I want to appeal to anyone who saw the man waiting at the door, or may have seen them in the area at the time of the robbery to contact police.
