Rochdale Environmental Action Group nominated for Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) has been nominated for Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
Members of the group have been cleaning the streets and roads mainly in the Milkstone & Deeplish area and various areas in the borough of Rochdale for the last three and a half years.
They work closely with the Environmental Management Service of Rochdale Borough Council, councillors, organisations, businesses and residents in the local communities.
The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) is an annual award which recognises excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community.
Ghulam Rasul Shahzad, OBE, secretary, said: “The members of the group are very pleased to know that the Rochdale Environmental Action Group has been nominated for the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
“It is recognition of their hard work, commitment and dedication.
“Our sincere thanks to the Environmental Management Service, councillors, organisations, businesses and residents for their continued support."
