Date published: 21 December 2015

The generous support of the community has enabled Middleton Rotary to raise £7,000 with their Christmas Float and supermarket can collections. With Gift Aid, £8,000 can now used to support local community groups.

Lee Wolf, chairman of the Rotary Community Service Committee, which organises the event, said: “Thank you to the small army of volunteers who helped us with the street collections.

"With your help we were able to visit more streets and bring more smiles to more children.”

The Christmas Float toured the streets of Middleton throughout December delivering Father Christmas to the children of Middleton and collecting  funds which are distributed to Middleton good causes early in the New Year.

In 2014 The Rotary Club of Middleton raised £6,506 for local charities and community groups from their door-to-door Father Christmas and supermarket collections.

Through this fund raising The Rotary Club of Middleton have helped numerous organisations in the past including local football teams, projects to tackle loneliness and isolation, community gardens along with gymnastics and trampolining clubs.
