Manchester United keeper joins on loan

Rochdale have signed Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton on loan until the end of December. The 23 year old keeper has played three times for the England U21 team and is expected to start for Rochdale this weekend against Chesterfield.

At the start of the 2008/09 season Heaton joined Cardiff City on a season long loan to the Championship side. This season began with a three month loan spell at Queens Park Rangers but he only made two appearances in the League Cup.

Heaton will be the fourth goalkeeper to play for Dale in as many matches with Lillis, Arthur and Taberner all featuring within the past two weeks.
