Joe Thompson gets the cancer all clear

Joe Thompson, the former Rochdale AFC player, has been given the all clear after battling cancer.
Joe, who was born in Rochdale, was diagnosed with nodular sclerosing Hodgkin’s in November last year and announced on Monday (17 June) that he has now been given the all clear.
He wrote: “COMPLETE REMISSION. Two simple words. Just given the all clear off my professor! Can't wait to get back out on the football
pitch.”
He then thanked Professor John Radford and Rachael Campsey for “saving his life”.
The 25-year-old Tranmere Rovers player underwent chemotherapy sessions every two weeks between December and May.
A dad of one and a former pupil at St Vincent’s Primary School in Norden and St Cuthbert’s High School, Joe spent six years at Rochdale Football Club in the first team before moving to Tranmere Rovers in 2012.
Now living in Prestwich, Joe has been raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research since his diagnosis through his Grow4Joe campaign.
The campaign has seen players and fans grow their hair or facial hair between January and the end of the season and has so far raised £15,000.
