Cancellation of cricket fixtures

Date published: 29 April 2016

With the poor weather this week culminating in many of our grounds awakening to a blanket of snow this morning, a heavy-hearted decision to cancel all this weekend's fixtures has been made.

The decision has taken into account the already fragile state of many PCL grounds with player safety at the forefront as well as the ethos of quality of cricket over quantity.

Therefore, all scheduled first and second XI matches on Saturday and Sunday, along with U13s on Sunday morning will not be played, a discussion on possible rearrangements will take place at the league meeting at Middleton on Tuesday (3 May).

At this stage, a final decision has yet to be made on Monday's double-header third XI T20 games as only four grounds are involved - Ashton, Middleton, Heyside and Littleborough. More news and updates will follow.

A spokesman for the league said: "May we take this opportunity to thanks all clubs for their patience and updates today, let's hope for better weather very soon."
