Greenmount ease past Heywood

Date published: 07 June 2016

Two impressive individual performances were the feature of Heywood’s latest Greater Manchester Premier League defeat.

Ryan Senior was the stand-out performer with 66 and 8-63 – including a hat-trick – as Greenmount became the latest team to come away with a Crimble victory.

And Bobby Cross was the top individual scorer in the match with a resolute 81 as Heywood, chasing a victory target of 203, succumbed by 37 runs.

Senior certainly deserved to be on the winning side for his tremendous all-round contribution, but he did receive solid support all the way down the order as he anchored his side’s total of 202-7 from their 50 overs.

That was in contrast to the collective Heywood batting effort as Cross saw partners come and go on a regular basis before becoming the seventh man out at 140, caught off a skier to the legside boundary when trying to rescue the run rate.

Promising contributions cut short came from opener Chris Thomas, who made a solid 14 out of an opening stand of 45 before pulling a short ball to the only man in sight on the legside boundary, Dominic Humphreys, Sean Burrill with double figure contributions in the middle order, and skipper Chris Humphreys with an unbeaten 18 at the end.

However, it leaves Heywood marooned at the bottom of the Premier League in the new set-up and facing a crunch visit to Edgworth, who are one place above them, on Saturday.
