Kate Bennetta nominated for national award

Date published: 16 June 2016

Kate Bennetta, Littleborough Rugby Club's youth director, has been nominated for Premiership Rugby's Community Volunteer of the Year.

A club spokesperson said: "This is a fantastic achievement for a wonder woman who has given so much both to the club and to Lancashire rugby this year and has been a pivotal part of helping Littleborough to be one of the best youth set ups in the county."

Ms Bennetta, whose two sons play in the Littleborough Juniors, sits on the mini and junior committee and orchestrates the fixture schedule, as well as playing her part in the senior set up on the main club committee, specifically through marketing and communication.

The nomination from the Sale Sharks and Sale Sharks Community Trust came with a glowing admiration of the passion, commitment and determination she has shown in trying to grow the game of rugby across the North West.

As part of that she joined the Sale Sharks Academy Developing Player Programme, to work alongside the committee in setting up the communication pathways for players, parents, coaches and safeguarding for the Lancashire side.

The Volunteer of the Year Award is designed to reward a person who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the community through their work at the club.

The winner of the award will be announced at an event at the House of Commons on 7 July.
