Norden blast to victory in Tom Hardman T20

Date published: 20 June 2016

Norden blasted their way to victory over Stayley in a Tom Hardman T20 match on Friday night.

They totalled 171 for three which was always going to be too many for Stayley once their big hit openers had been dismissed.

Hashum Malik slammed the first delivery of the match for six and the runs were piled up as he and Michael Price smashed the bowling to all parts.

The total had reached 105 when Price was stumped for 47. Malik was on 53 when caught by Peter Skuse.

The run rate dropped a tad following his departure, but Ash Gowers and Steve Pimm batted steadily with the poorer deliveries being hammered.

Pimm was finally caught behind for 34, while Gowers was unbeaten on 26.

Stayley’s reply promised a lot in the early stages as Kenroy Williams and Roberts matched Norden’s start, with the runs quickly flowing.

The first delivery from Rehan Udwadia saw Williams caught by Nick Fairchild.

Skuse was bowled by man of the match Malik and Stayley were never really in the hunt from then on.

Price took a couple of wickets, and Udwadia finished with four for 31, his haul including top scorer Roberts.
