Bosisto leads the charge as Rochdale sweep aside Norden

Date published: 27 June 2016

Will Bosisto led the charge as Rochdale swept aside Norden in a JW Lees Pennine League match at Stag Park on Saturday.

The professional took four for five to destroy the Norden tail then rattled off an unbeaten half century in quick time as the visitors easily overcame Norden’s paltry total of 86.

Overall Rochdale did little wrong as they kept the pressure on league leaders Walsden, while Norden did not do a lot right.

Norden had not reached 100 in their previous two league games, and their batting in this match was woeful.

It promised to be a better day for them as Michael Price and Simon North pushed the total up to 21 despite some good tight bowling from Mo Bux and Tom Avery, North hooking one loose Bux delivery onto the top of the clubhouse.

However, Price was then yorked by Avery and 19 runs later North fell to a catch by that man Bosisto.

There were fears that another Norden collapse was on the way, and so it proved.

Harvey Fitton, on 22 and Norden's top scorer on the day, was bowled by Tom Avery and Martin Smith looked to play across the line when bowled by Bux.

Steve Pimm had already gone by that stage. He made a half-hearted charge at a Bux delivery, missed it, and was stumped by James O’Neill.

Norden's slump continued as Rochdale turned to spin.

Dale Highton bowled Ash Gowers who had stuck around to make 18, but it was Bosisto who caught the eye with his 7.1 overs spell which reaped four for five.

Jay Collin looked a little hard done by when given leg before, but there was no doubting the other dismissals.

Steve Wild nudged one to O’Neill behind the stumps, and Hashum Malik was bowled.

Nick Fairchild slammed a legside six off Highton, but soon after the home innings was wrapped up when Chris Hartley was caught by O’Neill.

Demons in the wicket? It hadn’t looked so, and it was proved not the case as Rochdale sped to victory.

Fairchild had a touch of success when Jack Avery looked to play on.

Chris Hartley had Maradon Bend caught behind by Gowers and Kelton Aughey was caught by Gowers off Smith, but there was no way past the bat of the impressive Bosisto whose half century included six fours and a maximum.
