Mayfield Preview

Date published: 30 June 2016

Mayfield host bottom of the division Hull Dockers at the Mayfield Sports centre on Saturday afternoon in the Kingstone Press NCL Premier Division.

Dockers have been a major force in amateur rugby league for years but have hit on lean times recently.

With only two wins all season things aren’t looking too rosy for them but they are a team that are always capable of producing a shock as they did a couple of weeks ago when they comprehensively beat St Pat's.

They arrive after getting a roasting at Pilkington's last week and the coaches and players will be looking to atone for that with a strong performance on Saturday.

Matt Calland and Sam Butterworth have paid little heed to that as they prepared their charges for the game treating each team the same and placing the same importance on every game.

Two points is two points regardless if they come off the bottom team or the top.

A disjointed showing last week at Lock Lane still saw Mayfield come away with the victory and they will be looking for another win, albeit without the unforced errors they produced in that game.

With a strong squad from which to select the team, Mayfield will be looking to consolidate their place in the top six and that all important play-off spot come the end of the season.
