Victorious Heywood Thirds move into semis with outstanding victory at Whalley Range

Heywood Third XI are through to the semi-finals of the Greater Manchester Cricket League’s Per-Fit Third XI Cup after an emphatic victory at Whalley Range.

Whalley Range were dismissed for 140 in the face of some fine bowling by Humza Naeem, 4-36, and Cabhan Hilton, 3-15.

Heywood, led by Dominic Fawcett, reached their target in 34 overs.

Fawcett came in first wicket down and made 61, only succumbing with just three runs needed for victory.

Other main contributors to the victory chase were Joe Humphreys, with 26, and Chris Booth – the latter unbeaten on 25 at the end.
