Heywood teams for the weekend

Date published: 11 August 2016

Heywood field a full strength team for yet another important Greater Manchester Premier League game at home to Denton St Lawrence on Saturday.

The defeat at Clifton last weekend leaves the senior side still in the bottom four, with four teams scheduled to be relegated at the end of the season. So they need to get something out of the clash with the Saints, who have already beaten Heywood twice this season – in the league and cup.

The second team, which has started to climb Division Three in recent weeks, faces a stiff task at pacesetters Deane and Derby.

The third team, buoyed by reaching the semi-finals of the Third XI Cup, will be hoping for more joy on Sunday at bottom-of-table Royton in the Sunday North East Division.

There is action at Crimble on Sunday (1pm) with the annual charity game, Tom Hardman’s Lemons versus Eggers’ Patio XI.

Heywood First XI v Denton St Lawrence, home, Saturday (1pm): C Humphreys (capt), R Cross, J Borg, D Humphreys, W Hunt, S Burrill, L Mason, A Dawson, S Dawson, J Morley, D Pawson (pro).

Heywood Second XI v Deane and Derby, away, Saturday (1.30pm): C Kaye (capt), M Grogan, J Humphreys, C Booth, J Keyworth, K Nugent, C Hilton, R Smethurst, J Kaye, T Padgett, R Purser.

Heywood Third XI v Royton, away, Sunday (2pm): R Morley (capt), J Morley, J Humphreys, C Booth, H Naeem, K Nugent, J Mills, C Hilton, T Padgett, L Jackson, J Meadowcroft.
