Rochdale Ladies Hockey 1 - 6 Bury Ladies Firsts

Date published: 28 September 2016

Rochdale Ladies Hockey lost their first round cup game against Bury Ladies Firsts, from the division above, on Saturday (24 September).

Even before push back Rochdale’s luck had turned; having to start the game with three key players missing through injury and only being able to field 10 players was always going to be an uphill task.

Dfending stoutly, Rochdale were pinned in their own half for much of the first 25 minutes and Bury took full advantage, scoring four goals before the break.

Rochdale did finish the half strongly and used this to build on in the second half.

Through grit and determination, they pulled a goal back, but the damage was already done and Bury ran out 6-1 winners and progressed to the next round.

Captain Kie Leech said: “It was a tough game right from push back, but I am so proud of the effort this team of ladies showed.

"Kate Brammer was deserving of the player-of-the-match award.”
