Hockey: Manchester Moss Park Ladies 0 - 10 Rochdale Ladies

Date published: 03 October 2016

After last week's cup exit, Rochdale got back to the business of the league at Manchester Moss Park on Sunday afternoon and made light work of the opposition.

Back to full strength, Rochdale were looking to put last week's defeat behind them and without doubt they did.

Debbie Cope opened the scoring with her first of the season which was soon followed by a second from Jenny Banks.

Strong controlling play in midfield from Paula McDonald and Ashleigh Hoyle kept the game well within Rochdale’s control and a quick succession of goals came from Roisin Pickering, Becky Knowles, Hoyle and a further two from Banks.

By half time the game was all but over, Rochdale led 7-0 and cruised through the second half without any reply from Manchester Moss Park.

Goals came from Cope, who added to her first half opener, McDonald and a fourth from the in form Banks.

Player-of-the-match went to Ashleigh Hoyle, who controlled the midfield all day and didn’t put a foot wrong.

Captain Kie Leech said: “It was important to bounce back from last week, and we did that in style.

"Its early days, but we are in a strong position now.

"Next week we are away at Didsbury Ladies who sit just below us, so we know it will be a tough game.”
