Littleborough Boxing Club launches new running group

Date published: 10 October 2016

Littleborough Boxing and Fitness Club have launched its very own Running Club named 'LABC Runners'.

The group was set up on the back of the successful 'Couch to 5K' sessions that the club have been hosting since June to meet the growing demand for local people wanting to run as part of an organised group.

The club has secured a small grant of £500 from Greatersport to set the club up and affiliate to England Athletics.

Gill Lowe, an experienced runner, will lead the group which takes place every Monday and Thursday at 6.30pm at the club on Church Street. The club charges £2 per run and caters for beginners to experienced runners. There are two runs per evening to cater for all abilities.

Julie Durrant who joined LABC in April said: "We have been overwhelmed with the number of Littleborough Residents wanting to take up running. On Thursday evening we have over 40 people running the streets of Littleborough with our Couch25K group and newly formed LABC Runners. It's great seeing so many people take part in running."

Anyone interested interested in taking part should contact Gill Lowe on 07973 852833 or Julie Durrant  on (01706) 373062.
