Kilshaw extends contract at Hornets

Date published: 22 October 2016

Rochdale Hornets head coach Alan Kilshaw has signed a deal with the club which will add an extra year to his current contract, meaning he will lead the team for the next two seasons at least.

After signing a two year deal on his arrival at the Crown Oil Arena last November he led Hornets to promotion against all odds with a win over Toulouse Olympique in France.

Kilshaw spoke of his delight to have extended his stay with the club, and was happy to have been given the board’s faith during the discussions.

He said: “I’m very pleased to have extended my contract.

“Obviously I had this season to run but when we sat down and talked about an extension it was good to know the club have faith in me.

“I was grateful for the opportunity to coach the club and to be extending to a further season at least is exciting.

“This will be my fifth season coaching first grade now and each season it’s been a harder challenge but one I look forward too.”

Hornets chairman, Mark Wynn said: “Alan and the boys have achieved so much this year, it's great to have the stability to build for the future.

“To be honest the initial conversation came from Alan. He is loving his time at Hornets, and has developed a real bond with the supporters and staff.

“We enjoy a fantastic working relationship and that made the discussion fairly straightforward.

“All the board 100% back Alan and what he looks to achieve and this extended contract allows for greater forward planning and goal setting.”
