David Owusu signs pro contract with Dale

Date published: 04 January 2017

David Owusu has signed his first professional contract. It sees him contracted to Rochdale Football club until the end of the season, with a year's option.

The 18-year-old joined Dale in October after impressing during a trial.

Owusu had previously played at grassroots and non-league level, and had most recently been at Merstham FC.

Manager Keith Hill said: “David brings pace, hunger and unpredictability to the side.

“I think he’s a really good signing for us for the remainder of the season when we might need to change it slightly.

“We’ve been nurturing him on the training pitch for three months. When he arrived, he couldn’t sign and play, but now he’s ready to play.

“We feel as though we’ve done good work with him on the training pitch and I’m really excited about the proposition of throwing him in at some point in the remaining 21 games of the season. I think he will scare the life out of opposition defenders.”
