Hornets host open day

Date published: 09 January 2017

Rochdale Hornets host an open day on Saturday (14 January) which fans can attend free of charge ahead of the start of their pre-season campaign against Salford Red Devils the following day.

The event starts at 10:30am when the club shop will be open before photos with the team at 11.00am, where fans can be pictured with the squad and there will also be an opportunity to meet the players.

A community activity will then take place which will give children attending the event a chance to join in with some activities laid on by the Foundation’s community coaches, which will then lead into tours of the stadium and heritage room.

Following the tours a question and answer session will bring the day to a close with a panel consisting of CEO Adam Bates, Chairman Mark Wynn, Head Coach Alan Kilshaw and a senior player from the 2017 squad.

It is a great opportunity for fans to meet the players and get a free tour of the stadium, and also for those unfamiliar with the Crown Oil Arena to become accustom to the Hornets’ home ready for the beginning of the Kingstone Press Championship campaign.

The club’s head coach is urging supporters to take up this great opportunity and is hoping the whole town will be behind the club for what promises to be a great year.

Alan Kilshaw said: “It’s a perfect opportunity for people to come and meet the players and look around the stadium before we kick off our campaign the following day.

“There is a great feel around the town of Rochdale at the moment with both sides playing at the Crown Oil Arena in good form. Our community clubs Rochdale Mayfield and Rochdale Cobras both tasted success last season and Hopwood Hall were again national champions.

“We need everyone in the town united and behind the 17 week in week out and hopefully we can get a strong away following now there is less travel. We need to be behind the team when it rains, when it’s sunny, when we win and when we lose.”

Tickets are still available for the clash with Salford from www.hornetsrugbyleague.com, by contacting the club on 01706 648 004 or by visiting the office before Sunday.

Prices are £13 for adults, £10 concession and £2 for juniors.
