Hockey: Rochdale Ladies 0 - 0 Didsbury Northern Ladies

Date published: 10 January 2017

Rochdale Ladies got the second half of the season underway on Saturday with a home game against Didsbury Northern Ladies.

The two teams had met earlier in October when Rochdale had run out 7-3 winners, so Didsbury were out to prove a point.

Straight from the push back Didsbury looked to close down Rochdale at every opportunity and keep them under pressure.

The Rochdale defence remained resolute with Kate Brammer, playing in a central role, having a fantastic game. Staying strong when needed and breaking down the Didsbury attacks.

Rochdale’s usual passing game wasn’t flowing for them and although they had the better chances it showed that they hadn’t played competitively for nearly two months.

Roisin Pickering had two shots just wide of the goal and a well worked short corner resulted in Ashleigh Hoyle’s shot just missing the bottom corner.

Didsbury remained defiant, running the clock down and becoming the first team to take points off Rochdale this year.

Captain Kie Leech said: “It just wasn’t our day.

"We are still unbeaten in the league and now have another two week break, but that gives us time to work hard at training to put things right and get us back to winning ways.”
