Hopwood Hall knock out FC United

Date published: 07 February 2017

Hopwood Hall College first team progressed to round two of the Greater Manchester U18s County Cup with a 3-0 win over FC United’s U18s first team.

In a battle between two of the cup’s heavy weight teams, the Middleton college came out on top thanks to two goals from Jake Frost one from Dom Bevan.

Frost, studying a Level Three Diploma in Sport, scored either side of Bevan’s goal and could have had a third from the penalty spot, if not for a superb save from the FC United keeper.

Bevan, a Level One Diploma in Sport student, provided the crowd pleasing second with a composed chip over the opposing keeper.

Rob Johnson, head coach at Hopwood Hall Football Academy, said of the performance: “The game was an excellent advert for college football. Ourselves and FC United played a positive, high-tempo, passing game with no cards handed out to either side from the ref. Just how the game should be played.”
