Rugby Union: Silloth RUFC 0 - 26 Littleborough RUFC

After their longest journey of the season, Littleborough arrived at Silloth in very cold, wet and windy weather to outclass their opponents from the kick off and produce a fine win.

Littleborough were immediately prominent from the kick off and centre threequarter Jack Whittles made a dummy pass and sprinted forward to touch down under the posts for Littleborough’s first try after only 12 minutes. Chris Hough added the conversion.

Siloth came close when they broke the Littleborough line and but a try was was stopped by a tackle from winger Liam Lloyd.

In difficult very wet and windy weather, there was plenty of kicking out of hand until Littleborough’s Stuart Bairstow made a burst forward and then off loaded to Matthew Goldthorpe to score Littleborough’s second try. Hough converting.

Just before half time newcomer Cosmin Gabriel Rosu came off Littleborough’s bench and joined the fray for his first match for the club at prop forward.

The second half brought early pressure from Littleborough and it wasn’t long before Ted Chadwick crossed the line for Littleborough’s third try. No conversion. 

Further player changes for Littleborough with their second substitute, Oliver Thomas entering the game for his first fifteen game, which meant positional changes with Goldthorpe back out on the wing.

Several players were struggling with the very cold wet conditions and coming towards the end of the match Littleborough were defending on their own line.

Littleborough full back Chris Park came away with the ball which he passed on to Goldthorpe, who  beat two opposition players and run the length of the field to touch down for Littleborough’s fourth try. Converted by Hough immediately before the final whistle.

Man-of-the-Match went to Jack Whittles for the opening try, showing his skill by dummying the opposition players.
