Rochdale Hornets’ Sporting Foundation kicked off its Jets programme during half-term, with children from under 12s up to under 16s taking part of the two days.

Held at Hopwood Hall’s world class facilities, head coach Alan Kilshaw was joined by community coaches Jay Lobwein and Michael Ratu, as well as strength and conditioning coach Miles Greenwood.

Warrington Wolves were also represented as coaches from the Super League club led skills sessions with the youngsters who took part in the junior elite training programme.

Over the two days there was skills and contact games, movement literacy, strength and conditioning, mental skills, video analysis, profiling and player education.

Those old enough to represent under 15s and under 16s were also able to take part in contact games, and first team player and community coach Ratu was pleased with the success of the programme.

He said: “We were delighted with the first block of JETS training last week and with how well it was attended.

“There were some very talented youngsters in attendance and it was a great chance for all involved to gain top class coaching and improve their skills.

“We would like to thank Warrington Wolves for showing their support, it was great for the kids to learn from Super League coaches and showcase their ability.

“Also, a massive thanks to Hopwood Hall for hosting us with their brilliant facilities over the two days.”

The Jets programme will return during the Easter school holidays, with details to be announced in due course.
