Cycling: Georgina Cape and Karen Bailey win at West Pennine Road Club time trial

Date published: 20 March 2017

Georgina Cape and Karen Bailey, of the local East Lancs cycling team, won their category age groups at the West Pennine Road Club annual ‘hilly’ time trial at the weekend.

The event was a 14-mile time trial over a hilly course based around Knowle Green, Hurst Green and Edisford in Lancashire. It was both wet and windy, which isn’t good for time trialling, but the riders gave it their best shot.

Cape recorded 46:16 minutes and Bailey recorded 48:17 minutes in the event.

The event was organised by Dan Shand and Jo Rowsell Shand which ensured there was a good field of women riders.
