Date published: 10 April 2017

A dismal first half performance by Littleborough was transformed into a superb performance in the second half and a well-deserved win.

An early attacking run by Littleborough’s David Kearns was followed by a penalty to Littleborough, which was missed.

An Upper Ede attack concluded in a penalty try, which was converted.

An attempted Littleborough clearance kick hit an opposition player, and enabled Upper Ede to run in their second converted try.

The pressure on Littleborough continued with Upper Ede playing the match in Littleborough five metre area.

Boro's Josh Park was yellow carded and Littleborough were down to 14 men for 10 minutes.

With Littleborough still on the defence on their own try line, Upper Ede won the ball at a scrum and their threequarters combined well to run in their third try. No conversion.

The start of second half saw John Doherty, Jack Wilson and Sam Dickinson come on for Littleborough and team immediatelybegan playing some good rugby. The first attack saw Cosmin Rosu make good use of his size and weight to cross the line for Littleborough’s opening try. Converted by Dominic Kershaw.

The dramatic change continued and Andy Bairstow went over for Littleborough’s second try.

Still on the front foot Littleborough’s Matthew Goldthorpe received ball in hand near his own 25 metres and showed his electrifying pace by taking a direct line to the opposition half of the field, rounding and dummying several opposition players to touch down over the line for a brilliant solo try. Converted by Kershaw, which brought Littleborough with equal points to their Upper Ede.

David Kearns scored Littleborough’s fourth try to give his side the lead for the first time in the game.

Littleborough’s forwards were also now in charge and having pushed their opponents backwards the ball was then sent out to their threequarters for winger Liam Lloyd to score Littleborough’s fifth try. Converted by Kershaw.

The remaining quarter of the game once again belonged to the Upper Ede team but Littleborough’s defence was superb. Upper Ede did break through for a converted try to end the game with Littleborough holding the lead by one try.

The man-of-the-match award went to Matthew Goldthorpe for his "amazing" try.
