Rugby Union: Littleborough RUFC 19 - 30 Wigton RUFC

Date published: 24 April 2017

On a perfect weather day Littleborough looked to end the season with a final victory, with Boro leading 14 points to nil after 22 minutes, Wigton found their feet and took over the afternoon.

Littleborough opened the scoring with a try by Josh Park, which was converted by Dominic Kershaw.

A deep high kick of the ball by Park led to Boro's second try by Goldthorpe. Converted by Kershaw.

Wigton ran in for their first score, an unconverted.

Wigton were on the front foot and kick and chase led to their second try, which was converted to bring Wigton within two points of Boro.

Good ball passing movements led to Wigton's third try, right on half time.

Early in the second half Wigton crossed Littleborough’s line for their fourth try.

Littleborough hit back with a good kick to their right winger, Liam Lloyd for him to run in Boro's third try.

With half an hour to play Wigton applied further pressure on Littleborough and scored yet another try.

With around 15 minutes to go Wigton completed the scoring with a converted penalty to put them 11 points ahead.

Not the result Littleborough wanted to end their season but they are hopeful they still have sufficient points to stay in their league.
