Girls invited to join Milnrow Juniors FC 'Girls Academy'

Date published: 15 May 2017

Milnrow Juniors FC is looking for more girls to join its 'Girls Academy'.

Formed in September 2014, the club quickly achieved FA Charter Standard status.

Darren Hughen, Milnrow Juniors Club Development Officer said: “We want more girls, parents and teachers to realise that girls can play. That it’s not just a sport for boys.

“That girls who play football at home, or with their friends, or at school are just regular girls who love football. They need cheering on just as much as boys do. We hope more girls have and will see that football is a sport for them.

“We have grown rapidly with 21 teams registered in under three years. Our club ethos is built on the fact that we are not influenced by results in these early years. We will win some and lose some but our aim is to instil and develop a love for the game throughout all of our children.

“We at Milnrow Juniors are now looking for girls to come and join our very exciting all Girls Academy for ages 4-13 years.

“Our focus is on fun with age/ability specific groups and there are coaching and team playing opportunities as we are now looking to assemble our very first all-girls teams.

“We have a team of experienced coaches who offer an appropriate amount of direction whilst encouraging the girls to problem solve themselves. The results are a joy to see."
