Cricket: Rochdale victory over Glodwick

Date published: 15 May 2017

After a surprise defeat at Crompton on Saturday, Rochdale returned to winning ways at Redbrook on Sunday with an emphatic 121 run victory over Glodwick.

A second century opening partnership of the season from Jack Avery and Ben Chapman set them on their way and led the way for professional Henry Cooper to play another impressive innings.

Cooper made 80 not out 26 of which came in the last over of the innings, Chapman having been dismissed for a belligerent 79.

Only when Rafique Rehaman, Glodwick’s professional, and Anees ur- REhman were compiling a stand of 77 for the fourth wicket did the visitors hint at a challenging reply.

After their departure Glodwick’s innings crumbled, Rochdale captain dale Highton finishing with 5 for 5 for 34.

Scores:

Rochdale 244 for 3 (Cooper 80 n.o., Chapman 79, Avery 41)

Glodwick 123 (Highton 5-34)
