Premiership

League leaders Norden suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of lowly Glodwick. After being put in to bat. Josh Tolley was top scorer with 86 when they scored 225 for 9, but then Glodwick’s pro Rehan Rafiq made 100 not out which included ten fours and five sixes as they reached 227 for 7.

Walsden won away at Saddleworth after seemingly facing defeat at one stage. Batting first the home side were all out for 208 after pro Imran Aslam made 86 supported by Tom Avery with 46. In reply Walsden were in danger at 97 for 5, but Steve Barker (60 not out) and Joe Gale (55 not out ) shared an unbroken stand of 118 to record a five wicket win.

Another club with title hopes, Crompton had Rochdale as the visitors, who with pro Henry Cooper scoring 93 made 222 for 6. However Crompton pro Akbar Rehman with eighteen fours in his 118 not out saw the home side score 223 for 6.

Another surprise win occurred at Littleborough when Greenfield totalled 214 for 8. Chris Gill (67) and pro Rivaldo Moonsamy (54). They then proceeded to bowl out their hosts for only 125. Andrew Cadd and Bradley Woolley with 3 wickets each for 23 and 28 respectively being responsible.

An easy seven wicket victory was the result for Monton & Weaste at Heyside who had no answer to Furan Shafiq ‘s 8 for 40 when they were dismissed for 162 in 39.2 overs. Only pro Bilal Khiljee offered much resistance with 53. Shafiq also had a good day with the bat making 89 in Monton’s reply of 164 for 3. His innings included eight fours and six sixes. Pro Muhammad Wajihuddin also scored 60 not out.

Hamza Nadeem had another great day for Stayley. Thanks to his 67 and 54 from Peter Skuse they scored 223 for 6 against Austerlands, who replied with 171 all out (Adam Young 52) Hamza Nadeem with another five wicket haul, this time 5 for 32.

Championship

The top two clash between Shaw and Middleton saw the honours go to Middleton. Dismissing Shaw for 159, they scored 162 for 3 in reply.

Oldham were bowled out for 85, leaving Hollinwood the winners by six wickets, and Moorside pro Gerrie Snyman hit 86 in their score of 142, which proved too much for Royton who replied with 132 (Chirag Khurana 62). Imran Khan taking 5 for 25 for the winners.

Uppermill had a resounding win at home to Micklehurst. Ayaz Tasawar with twelve fours and eleven sixes scoring 139 when they totalled 331 for 6. Micklehurst only managed 124 in reply.

Another centurion was Saeed Anwar (Jnr) with 102 not out at home to Werneth. Alex Willis also chipped in with 70 as they reached 243 for 4. Brad Smith then took 5 for 34 as Werneth were bowled out for 158.
