Football: Summer Football League looking for one more team

Date published: 24 May 2017

The Rochdale Online Alliance Summer Football League kicks off its inaugural season on Tuesday 6 June and is looking for one team to replace one of its member clubs that has been forced to withdraw at short notice.

Highfield FC, Littleborough CCFC, Rochdale Galaxy FC, Wardle FC and White Lion FC are hoping to be joined by one more team to enable the original format of the new competition to be maintained.

The new league is an 11 a side open age competition and all games will be played at a central venue: the 3G surface at Hopwood Hall College with three one hour games kicking off at 6pm, 7.10pm and 8.20pm every Tuesday for ten weeks.

Each team will play once a week enabling a ten-game season to be completed by Tuesday 8 August.

This Summer Football pilot originates from discussions with member clubs when the Rochdale Online Alliance Football League ceased to operate on Saturday afternoons at the end of the 2015-16 season, and will be managed by the same committee that was in place at that time.

It is hoped this pilot will prove successful and generate further interest and development in future seasons.

If you are interested in filling the current vacancy for this coming season email the League Secretary, Mike Willmore, at mikewillmore@me.com for further information.
