Rochdale Girls’ U9 team
Rochdale FC Girls' U9 team got off to an excellent start after playing in two football tournaments, thanks to the Community Trust programme.
The girls won their first tournament in Bispham near Blackpool, where they competed against several teams from across the North West, only conceding one goal in all twelve games they played.
The second tournament was held in Skelmersdale last weekend (10-11 June) and featured teams from as far away as Ireland. The girls made it to the final, but lost concceding the only goal of the game in the last minute.
The Community Trust programme is designed to give local children a chance of playing football and has been running alongside Rochdale Football Club for several years, offering girls aged nine to 17 the chance to play football.
