Rugby Union: Catching the rugby bug

Date published: 11 July 2017

Young boys and girls enjoyed a glorious day of sunshine, fun and games as they tried out rugby for the first time at Littleborough Rugby Union Club.

In the biggest taster day in the history of the club, Littleborough Sports Club was filled with hundreds of families, adults and juniors getting to experience just how welcoming the Littleborough rugby family is.

217 children, both boys and girls, from different 12 age groups ranging from U7s to U13s ladies to U16 boys are now signed up for the new rugby season in what will be the biggest intake of the history of the club.

From food stalls, water balloon games, fitness coaching and walking rugby. There was something for everyone to get involved in.

One parent of a young child new to the club said: “The feel of the club is wonderful. It feels like it’s a big family all playing together in a park, it's great.”

Another parent said: “I just know instantly that I am going to love it here as well as my sons. It's lovely that people smile and talk to you even though they don't know you. It's amazing.”
