Cricket: Australia Over-60s at Heywood Cricket Club

Date published: 11 July 2017

Lancashire Over-60s will take on their Australian counterparts at noon on Friday, 14 July, at Heywood Cricket Club in a 45-overs-per-side match designed as a warm-up for the tourists’ Test series against England.

Lancashire will be skippered by David Fare and joining him in the team will be another Heywood stalwart in the shape of Rick Purser.

Other players from bygone Central Lancashire League days in the Lancashire side will probably include John Punchard, Chris Dearden, Alan Whiston and Barry Woodward.

The Australians then start the Over-60s Test series against England at Blackpool on 16 July followed by Kidderminster on 23 July and Salisbury on 28 July, all  at 11.00am.
