Wood Cup Semi Finals

Crompton v Littleborough

Winning the toss, Crompton put Littleborough in to bat. A decision which was soon justified as Littleborough slumped to 39 for 4.

There then followed a good stand of 84 between Ryan Knight who made 40 and Lewis Wilman who was undefeated at the end of the innings with 56 as Littleborough closed on 158 for 7.

At 35 for 3 Crompton reply did not begin too well either. However veteran opener John Punchard stood firm and steadied the innings.

With Simon Wright playing a captain’s innings, they added 129 without further loss. Punchard finished on 45 not out with Wright hitting 88 not out. An innings which included nine fours and four sixes to see Crompton through to the final in totalling 164 for 3.

Royton v Rochdale

Championship side Royton won the toss and elected to bat, but their innings never managed to gain any momentum, and they were all out for 110 in 33 overs. Oliver Makin taking 4 for 31 for Rochdale. This total was unlikely to prove enough to trouble Rochdale who cruised through to the final by 7 wickets in reaching 112 for 3.

Tanner Cup Semi Finals

Friarmere v Heyside

A disappointing effort from Friarmere saw Heyside go through to the final batting first Friarmere were quickly dismissed for only 77. Heyside replying with 80 for 3.

Norden v Stayley

Some consistent batting enabled Norden to reach 238 for 7. Naved Zamurad with 42 and Asley Gowers with 72 not out being the main contributors to the total.

When the visitors batted it was always going to be difficult and at 50 for 4 they were in real trouble.

Their hopes rose when Peter Skuse and Dave Roberts added 64 of which Roberts scored 39, but once Skuse followed for 25 the innings folded quickly to 156 all out. Simon North taking 4 for 61.

Burton Cup Semi Finals

Glodwick v Norden

Josh Brown 40 and James Chadwick 48 provided the bulk of the runs when Glodwick scored 189 for 8. Mohammad Munalam taking 4 for 28. Apart from Asif Saeed with 42, Norden did not offer much resistance and they were dismissed for 126.

Middleton v Greenfield

Middleton won the toss and posted a formidable 265 for 7 which proved too many for Greenfield.

Leighton Le Carpentier who made 56 and then James Tierney scored 86 before he became one of James Ashton’s three wickets. When Greenfield replied, only opening bat Adam Jones made a meaningful contribution of 42 in their reply of 164. For Middleton Mohammad Sharhad took 5 for 28.
