Rochdale Football Club sign Jordan Slew

Jordan Slew has signed a short-term deal with Dale until January.

The 25-year-old Sheffield born forward started his career at Bramall Lane and, after coming through the youth ranks there, made his professional debut for the Blades in 2010.

He quickly attracted attention from a number of clubs in the Premier League and Championship, and went on to join top flight side Blackburn Rovers for a fee rumoured to be in the region of one million pounds on transfer deadline day in August 2011.

Slew enjoyed loan spells at Oldham Athletic, Rotherham United, Ross County and Port Vale during his almost four year stay at Rovers.

A permanent move to Cambridge United followed, before he went on to join Chesterfield and Plymouth Argyle.

He made over 30 appearances for the Pilgrims during the 2016-17 season, as they secured promotion to League One.

Slew said: “It has been a rough couple of months but as soon as I knew Rochdale wanted me, I jumped at the chance.

“Rochdale are a strong League One side and I know that they did well last year and were unlucky not to get in the play-offs. It is a very good club and there are a lot of good players here.

“The gaffer here won’t accept anything less than your whole best every day in training. It is a hard-working club, and that is what I need. I am just looking forward to getting started - it is time to get my head down and do the business.”

Slew will wear squad number seven during his time at the club.
