AFC Wimbledon 0 - 0 Rochdale

Date published: 01 October 2017

Rochdale made it back to back goalless draws away from home after another battling performance at AFC Wimbledon. In a game of few clear cut chances, neither goalkeeper was seriously tested as the defences came out on top.

Calvin Andrew started ahead of Jordan Williams in the only change to the Dale side that drew at Blackpool in midweek.

The first half certainly lacked much in the way of goalmouth action.

Calvin Andrew had a looping header easily saved and Donervon Daniels was thwarted by George Long in the Wimbledon goal when his downward header was pushed away.

Wimbledon increased the tempo after the break as they looked for only their second home win of the season.

The dangerous Lyle Taylor sent a wonderful cross from the right, Andy Barcham turning the ball just wide of the far post.

The Dale defence has improved of late but they were carved open seven minutes into the second half. Taylor's pace saw him drive into the area before a neat backheel picked out Barry Fuller, whose first time shot was comfortably saved by Lillis.

Dale’s best chance of the half came with twelve minutes remaining through substitute Steven Davies. Good build up play from MJ Williams allowed him time to cross from the right for Andrew, whose intelligent header picked out Davies. With his back to goal, the striker turned, before firing a goal bound shot that was bravely blocked by Deji Oshilaja.

Wimbledon threw everything at Rochdale as the clock ticked down but they could not break through the stubborn Dale defence, who made it four consecutive clean sheets.
