Rugby Union: Leigh Seconds 7 - 17 Littleborough Seconds

Date published: 30 October 2017

An intelligent away day performance from Littleborough Rugby Club Seconds saw them take the share of the spoils at a blustery Round Ash Park in Leigh.

Against the wind and uphill, Littleborough dominated the opening stages of the game and were unlucky not to be ahead as prop Murphy Holt was twice held up over the line.

However, tLittleborough were not to be denied as scrum half Christopher Kolbuck capitalised on first good work to drive Leigh backwards and slide in next to the posts.

Konrad Hill doubled Littleborough's lead with a run on the outside arch in the midfield.

The teams cancelled each other out for the rest of the first half.

The second half saw Littleborough increase their lead with a penalty in front of the posts.

Hill took the lead beyond two scores giving Boro what turned out to be an unassailable 15-point lead.

Boro's defence proved a very difficult obstacle to break through. Brook Reader, Jack Wilson, Paul Fino and Stuart Irving made crunching tackles to stop the home side in their tracks

Littleborough tiredness and ill-disciple allowed Eligh to score a consolation, as the referee awarded a penalty try following a number of Boro indiscretions.
