Football: Rochdale 2 - 0 Peterborough United

Date published: 25 November 2017

Rochdale climbed out of the League One relegation zone after a well-earned victory over Peterborough at a wintery Crown Oil Arena.

Goals from Calvin Andrew and Callum Camps secured the three points for Rochdale as they turned around a recent run of just one win in nine league games.

In a change of formation, Joe Rafferty was recalled to the starting line-up and he and Joe Bunney were utilised as wing back’s with a back three of Harrison McGahey, Donervon Daniels and Jim McNulty.

Keith Hill’s pre-match preparations were thrown out of the window when Matty Done had to be replaced after just seven minutes with an apparent back injury; Jordan Slew coming on in his place.

In a game that saw half chances for both sides, it was Dale who took the lead just after the half hour mark. Joe Rafferty’s centre was perfect for Andrew who controlled with his first touch before turning defender Andrew Hughes and firing into the left corner.

One nil soon became two nil when Joe Bunney was tripped on the edge of the Peterborough penalty area; Callum Camps scoring his second of the season with a powerful free-kick from 20 yards.

The visiting manager Grant McCann made a bold move at the start of the second half with a triple substitution, which saw Peterborough improve.

One of the half time substitutes, Idris Kanu, swept a first time shot towards goal with Lillis easily getting down to gather.

Neither goalkeeper was really troubled in the second half as the Dale back-line held firm to record a clean sheet, which sees Rochdale climb out of the bottom four and up to 19th in League One.
