A hat-trick of tries from Halifax's centre pairing proved the difference as they overcame a persistent Littleborough.

Littleborough playing their first game since the first weekend of December contended and battled well against a much more experienced Yorkshire outfit.

Halifax took an early lead but were quickly pegged back when Littleborough scored one of their tries of the season. Winger Paige Travis beat the challenge of three tacklers before setting Rebecca Park free.

Halifax did well to scramble the defence back to hold off the home side, however Littleborough retained and worked possession perfectly for Park to reap the rewards of her earlier effort.

With the score nicely poised at five all, Halifax seized control of the game with two tries from strong and powerful bursts through the middle.

First number eight Jennifer Curtis scored from twenty yards out before outside centre Georgina Downs got the first of her two tries to the right-hand side of the posts.

Halifax went up the gears of intensity and quality in the second half and were richly rewarded with three more tries.

Five minutes in the second half the visitors sneaked a close-range score in the right corner prior to further tries from the centres.

Firstly, Georgina Downs was the grateful recipient of an overlap down the right while her centre partner Sophie Wilson had to work a little harder for her try, sprinting clear from half way to make the most of a swift blindside move.

Despite the emphatic scoreline, the game was very even with both teams producing some big hits to stifle each other's attacking threat.

Littleborough's Georgina Quinn, Sarah Whittles and Sharon Pearson to mention a few put in some bone crunching hits and had strong defensive displays.

Littleborough had their chances to get back into the game with the likes of Sam Plant, Paige Travis and Keeley Mosoph all making big yards in the closing stages to pressure the Halifax white wash.
