Rugby League: Hornets full back Miles Greenwood retires

Date published: 16 January 2018

Rochdale Hornets full back Miles Greenwood has called time on his career, but will remain with the club in his role as head of strength and conditioning.

The 30-year-old started with St Helen's before spells with Halifax, Oldham and Batley, scoring 94 tries in over 150 appearances.

He joined Hornets for the 2017 season in his dual role and played a crucial part in keeping the club in the Championship, wearing the shirt 18 times and scoring on five occasions.

Greenwood found his way over the try line in a famous victory at Odsal over Bradford Bulls at the start of the season, and was also on the scoresheet in the Summer Bash triumph against Oldham in Blackpool.

Paying tribute to Greenwood, Hornets head coach Alan Kilshaw said: "Miles has a really good future in the game as a conditioner.

“What he has done here last year and in pre-season is evidence of that.

“Playing wise he has had a good career at some good clubs, and he has had an impact on and off the field if you speak to any of those.

“He started at St Helen's and then had spells with successful Championship clubs and he can look back with a lot of pride at what he achieved as a player.

“He has got a lot to look forward to as well and he has been great for us.”
