Rugby League: Mayfield game to be live streamed on BBC Sport website

Date published: 25 January 2018

Mayfield entertain Warrington side Crosfields in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup first round on Saturday and the match is being live streamed on the BBC Sport website.

The Challenge Cup will be at the club giving supporters the chance to have their photos taken with the greatest prize in club rugby and a chance to win two executive tickets for the Challenge Cup final at Wembley in a half time cross bar challenge.

There will also be a sponsored balloon release to raise money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of Craig Baker, father of player Zac Baker, who died suddenly before Christmas.

Coaches Matt Calland and Sam Butterworth have a large squad to select from and will have a few selection problems after last week’s postponement leaves them going into this game untested.

Saturday's game will be a stern test for Mayfield as Crosfields look to improve on last seasons mid table finish in the NCL Division Two.

They have a solid pack and a decent back line, but Mayfield should have enough in the tank to overcome them - the intensity at which the premier division play week in week out gives the top sides the edge in these cup competitions.
