Rugby Union: Littleborough Rugby Union ladies, mini and junior results

Date published: 30 January 2018

In this week's roundup of Sunday's Littleborough mini and junior action, it was a day  of mixed fortunes.

In the first action, at Sandbach RUFC, the U8s and 12s continued their good performances with victories. The U8s split into two teams with both Neil Makinson's team and their counterparts coached by Adam Bracegirdle winning all their matches.

There were good combinations of individual skill and team work on display as the teams scored plenty of tries and showed quality defensive tagging.

Whilst losing, the Under 12s battled relentlessly all game against strong Sandbach opposition.

Littleborough U10 girls and boys produced one of their best performances to date against a very strong side. They did not give in or give up, and their passion and quality gave them the result they wanted. Playing against an opponent with an embarrassment of riches of 20 children, the nine Littleborough Warriors overcame the numbers with work rate and team work.

Closer to home, the Littleborough U14 boys put in an exuberant performance against local side Rochdale, taking victory by 32 points to five.

In a crunching match with both teams desperate to get one over on their opponent, the game was played at a fantastic tempo and temperament.

Littleborough's quality in attack, most notably from a try as a result of an inch perfect cross field kick from Sam Bennetta to find Nyall Hensby, proved to be the difference in a high quality affair.

Back at the soggy Rakewood, Littleborough Under 13s girls recorded a well-deserved victory. The Pink Warriors played as a tight knit unit using their passing and communication skills.

In other results from a busy weekend of rugby, the Under 16 boys added another victory to their tally as they won 24-12.

The U9s had a tough away day at Wigan while the senior colts collected their first win of 2018 with a 20-10 victory.
