Rugby League: Callum Mulkeen signs for Hornets

Date published: 13 March 2018

Callum Mulkeen has completed a successful trial with Rochdale Hornets and has signed a permanent deal.

After featuring 18 times for North Wales Crusaders last season the second rower, who can also fill in at centre, joined Hornets for pre-season.

His work rate and versatility impressed Hornets coach Alan Kilshaw, and he rewarded his hard work with a permanent contract.

Kilsahw said: “Callum has impressed us since pre-season.

“He can play a number of positions, but he is most comfortable playing in the middle.

"We see him developing under us and we are delighted to give him an opportunity.”

Mulkeen scored five times last season for Crusaders, and previously had two successful spells with Gloucestershire All Golds.

He featured 39 times in the 2013 and 2015 seasons, scoring 16 tries. He spent 2014 with Oxford where he crossed the whitewash five times in 17 appearances.

He will wear the number 25 shirt for Hornets during the 2018 season.
