Swimming: Aquabears semi-final victory

Aquabears won in the semi-final of the Manchester and District team competition at Bury's Castle Leisure Centre on Friday.

Competition was close with opponents Bolton, Bury, Horwich and Swinton all taking wins, but after 20 races Aquabears and Bolton had pulled.

In next 10 races Aquabears pulled out a five-point lead over Bolton.

With just seven races left it was all to play for and the crowd were treated to some hard-fought close races that again saw Aquabears and Bolton both recording victories but when the final scores were announced Aquabears had 149 points, nine points ahead of Bolton in second with 140 points.
