Boxing: Allana Shaw triumphs over previously unbeaten Lilly Deacon

Date published: 16 April 2018

Allana Shaw, of Hamer Boxing Club, beat the previously unbeaten Lilly Deacon of Rourkeys Gym ABC, Bradford at the Tameside Elite Boxing Academy in Stalybridge.

Deacon continually pushed forward in the first round hoping to land her big left-hand punch, but the 11-year-old Shaw evaded the punch by moving out of range before stepping back into range to land fast counter-punches.

At start of the second round Deacon upped the action as she tried to get back into the contest and Shaw struggled to find her range, until the Hamer boxer landed a terrific right-hand uppercut and a left hook to the head, followed by a strong right hand to the chin as Deacon stayed upon the ropes.

The combination clearly hurt the unbeaten Bradford boxer and she began to stand off Shaw who continued to press her opponent onto the ropes.

With seconds to go in the round, Deacon began to take the fight back to her Hamer opponent.

In the third and final round the boxers met in the middle of the ring and Shaw began to land crisp and fast three and four punch combinations as her opponent moved in.

Deacon continued to press forward only to be met by straight punches from the Hamer boxer that continually knocked her head back.

With seconds to go Shaw landed another right-hand uppercut to the jaw and a left hook to the head.

Shaw won the contest by unanimous decision.
