Football: Middleton Colts celebrate Sunday League clean sweep

Date published: 08 June 2018

Middleton Colts are celebrating the end of a fantastic season with a clean sweep of titles in the Oldham Sunday League.

The Colts won the Premier Division Title with only one defeat all season, the President’s Cup Final, Premier Shield Final, and Challenge Cup Final.

Manager Paul Hindley said: “After years in the Rochdale League, it was refreshing for Colts to be pushed by several teams.”

The President’s Cup saw the Colts up against a strong young team in Shawdale FC, described by Hindley as “surely a team for the future.”

Colts ran out 4-1 winners with a massive performance from Shawdale, who had the score 1-1 at half-time. Goals were scored by Kacy Samuels, Jonny Munson, Liam Smith, Ste Cass and Man of the Match was Harrison Reeves.

Colts had a fine win over Horseshoe in the Premier Shield, winning 8-0. Horseshoe found Colts in rampant form cruising to victory. Goals were scored by Jonny Munson, who was also Man of the Match, with Jamie Diamond and Ste Cass scoring one goal each.

The Challenge Cup Final saw Colts take on Horseshoe FC again within four days. Horseshoe put a different performance this time, holding Colts to a 2-1 win against a much-improved team.

Goals from Jonny Munson and Ryan Hall.
