Date published: 30 April 2007

Turks Head 1 - 2 Bamford H&H

Turks Head tasted defeat for the first time in ten games in their Rochdale Online Cup quarter final against an organised Bamford side who are two divisions above them.

In the first half, with a strong wind behind them, Turks dominated proceeding and were unlucky not to open the scoring after 25 minutes when Mannion glanced a header onto the post. Turks also had a penalty claim turned down when Nuttall was sent sprawling in the box.

Bamford's were well organised but the pace of Wood was causing problems and he fired narrowly wide on the stroke of half time.

Bamford started well in the second half, taking the lead after ten minutes with a well placed shot.

Turks responded well and soon pulled level, Lyons driving his well aimed shot into the bottom corner.

Turks started to get on top, once again Wood's pace taking him through, only to drag his shot wide.

With 15 minutes left to play, Bamford began to show their quality, keeping possesion well and then hitting Turks on the break to take the lead again.

Turks rallied well for the last 10 minutes, Nuttall and Lyons coming close with efforts, but Bamford held on to progress to the semi-final.
