Team 15 windsurfing contest at Hollingworth Lake

Clear blue skies and blazing sunshine greeted contestants at the region’s second 'Team 15' windsurfing contest. Held on Saturday 1 July at Hollingworth Lake, the young windsurfers enjoyed a hot day and a good force 2 to 3 breeze.

Youngsters from ages 8 to 15 all joined in, with four different rig sizes, and there was a busy programme of seven races for each of the four classes. Competitors warmed up on a Giant Downwind Slalom for the first three races, then sailed either a box or a box and sausage shape for the later races. 

Organiser Mike Roberts was impressed with all performances, especially of the winners, he said: "The winners of every fleet did so with straight wins in every race - a situation I’ve never experienced."
