Mayfield Mustangs Under 12s 32 - 0 Eccles Under 12s

The Mayfield Mustangs Under 12s team comprehensively beat Eccles under 12s team on Sunday 2 March.

This was the first time the Mayfield boys had played together as a team with some members of the Mustangs not playing in a competitive game before.

The first try for Mayfield came from Jack Taylor, who collected the ball from Callum Connolly after good work getting away from his own try line. Jack charged 60 yards to touch down the ball.

Callum Connolly scored his first try of the season with help from Ben O’Keefe and Folah Arogundade.

Mayfield didn’t give Eccles many scoring chances in the first half with Jack Taylor and Folah Arogundade making some good last ditch tackles. Jack then went on to score his second try of the game just before half time.

In the second half, Mayfield dominated possession forcing Eccles into errors.

Jack Taylor scored his third try of the game following good work by Callum Connolly, Liam Steele and Jack Horrocks. Ben O’Keefe converted.

Jack Taylor scored his fourth try of the game and Callum Connolly his second. Ben O’Keefe converting one of these.

The last try of the game came from Eren Dincer, his first try for the club, which saw him charge through the Eccles team leaving a trail of players behind him.

Ben O’Keefe demonstrated excellent kicking skills by completing two conversions in tricky conditions.

Coach Ivan Taylor said: “The team were a credit to the hard work they have put in with their coaches, myself and Paul O’Keefe.”

Points tally: Jack Taylor 16pts, Callum Connolly 8pts, Eren Dincer 4pts, and Ben O’Keefe 4 pts.
